Therapist’s bio

Patricia Therkelsen, a professionally qualified counsellor andprofile-pic psychotherapist since 2012.  She was trained in a person centred approach however; she uses a variety of counselling models to cater for your individual needs. As well as holding an Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University & PCI College; Patricia is an accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). 

Patricia is committed towards Continuous Professional Development and has completed the training programme on Childhood Sexual Abuse given by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. She has obtained Certificates on Expressive Art Therapy, CBT for Creating Confidence and a Professional Certificate in Couples Counselling, a Level 8 Certificate in Working with Children and Adolescents. In 2020 Patricia completed the Maynooth University Certificate in Addiction Studies. To follow that, Patricia has completed training in to be a CBT practitioner and most recently achieved her Diploma in Supervision and studied Modern Applied Psychology.  

I am an Accredited Supervisor (since August 2023)

Patricia has been very involved in the IACP, the governing body for counselling and psychotherapy having served in the role of Chairperson of the Dublin Regional Committee.

I am a LGBTQQI ally.  I am open to and comfortable with most topics. I am always learning and endeavor to provide a safe, confidential, non judgmental place where you can express yourself, explore your needs and help empower you.

I am neuro-divergent. (AuDHD) Late diagnosis has given me a whole new persective on life, I’m still learning. If this is of interest to you, don’t hesitate to mention it at your consultation.
