Meet the Therapists

Patricia Therkelsen, a professionally qualified counsellor andprofile-pic psychotherapist since 2012.  She was trained in a person centred approach however; she uses a variety of counselling models to cater for your individual needs. As well as holding an Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University & PCI College; Patricia is an accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Patricia is committed towards Continuous Professional Development and has completed the training programme on Childhood Sexual Abuse given by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. She has obtained Certificates on Expressive Art Therapy, CBT for Creating Confidence and a Professional Certificate in Couples Counselling, a Level 8 Certificate in Working with Children and Adolescents. This year Patricia completed the Maynooth University Certificate in Addiction Studies. 

Patricia has been very involved in the IACP, the governing body for counselling and psychotherapy having served in the role as Chairperson of the Dublin Regional Committee.

 

Izabela Garkowska – Morris is a bilingual (Polish/English) counsellor/psychotherapist holding a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.  Also an accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling). She holds Diploma in Drugs & Alcohol Studies, Cert in Addiction Studies, Cert n Psychology, Cert in Family Therapy, Cert in Child & Adolescent Counselling.

Our approach to counselling and psychotherapy is holistic. Izabela says “Certain aspects of our lives’ effect our well-being – the balance between our emotional, psychological, physical, spiritual and environmental circumstances impacts us in many ways. Therapy helps to find the underlying problems that impact all of the above”.

Our offices are situated in the very quiet area of Woodenbridge (Wheelchair Access) and Arklow Main Street. (Search Arklow Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling in Google Maps) The first session is used to set out what counselling involves and what your expectations are.  It is an opportunity to ask questions and briefly outline what you need.
